Celebrating Armed Forces Week: honouring dual service at Methods

At Methods, we are proud to celebrate Armed Forces Week and recognise the immense contribution of our Armed Forces personnel - both past and present - to our country and to our organisation.

One of our people, Samuel Wigley, exemplifies this dual commitment through his service as a Lance Corporal in 4 Company, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Anglian Regiment, while also pursuing a civilian career here at Methods.

Samuel recently took part in his battalion’s Armed Forces Day (AFD) parade in Kettering, where the unit exercised its Freedom of the City. We’re delighted to share some moments from the event that Samuel has kindly shared with us, showing the pride and professionalism he brings both in uniform and at work.

At Methods, we believe in enabling our people to walk both paths - military and civilian - with purpose and pride. We are committed to supporting those transitioning from service to civilian careers, as well as current reservists who balance both responsibilities.

In recognition of our efforts, we were honoured to receive the Gold Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Award in August 2024, from the London Employer Engagement Board. This award acknowledges our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant and the value we place on the contribution of serving personnel, veterans, and military families.

Launched in 2020, our GRAVITATE programme provides a tailored and flexible entry into civilian careers for early-career colleagues - including service leavers. Working in collaboration across Recruitment, HR, and specialist teams, and alongside external partners like the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), GRAVITATE ensures that each individual receives the support they need to thrive.

The programme is designed with flexibility in mind, with placements ranging from 12 weeks onwards, ensuring a personalised and sustainable career path for each participant.

We’re proud to be an Armed Forces friendly organisation - one that actively recognises, supports, and employs those who serve and have served. Armed Forces Week is an opportunity not just to reflect, but to reaffirm our support.

To all those in the forces community: thank you for your service.
