Cyber Security • April 09, 2025 • Written by: Gareth Jones • Read time: 2 min

I am pleased to announce that David Hughes (Head of Audit and Assurance) and Henry Kenyon (Senior Consultant, Audit and Assurance) have been awarded Chartered and Principal status (respectively) in the Audit and Assurance Specialism by the UK Cyber Security Council. In working with the Chartered Institute of Information Security (CIISec) – who have been awarded a license to assess cyber security professionals and support the application process to UK CSC - David and Henry were also awarded membership of CIISec with additional post-nominals.

The objective of the Cyber Security Council is to promote the highest standards of practice in the cyber security profession for the benefit of the public. UK CSC has been granted Royal Chartered status and are the only organisation able to Charter cyber security professionals as individuals. Professional registration provides employers, government, and society with confidence in the cyber security sector. It offers assurance of an individual's competence within the profession, as well as assurance of acting in a professional and ethical manner.

Methods are corporate members of both the UK Cyber Security and the Chartered Institute of Information Security and, as a NCSC Assured Cyber Security Consultancy, Methods cyber security consultants are accredited to all leading cyber security professional bodies to include ISACA, ISC2, and CREST.

David leads Methods’ Audit and Assurance (Governance, Risk and Compliance) team and took it upon himself to lead on Cyber Professional Development. Attaining Chartership reflects not only on David’s competence and commitment but that of our Cyber Team. Methods has a further 25 colleagues now actively progressing their applications to the UK Cyber Security Council at all levels and across all available specialisms including:

  • Cyber Security Governance and Risk Management
  • Secure System Architecture & Design
  • Audit and Assurance; and
  • Security Testing.

Corporate and individual membership of UK Cyber Security Council is increasingly necessary to demonstrate a level professional competence required to provide services in support of (for example) new UK government initiatives for Gov Assure and Cyber Resilience Audit.
