How did you identify and target the security/risk management sector as your post-military career path?
Following a a change of company into the security sector in a previous role, this further sparked an interest that had been ticking away in the background, which gave me the push to pursue this.
What additional training or certifications did you pursue to bridge the gap between military and civilian security work?
From not having a technology focused background I leant towards CompTIA qualifications (N+/Sec+) to build a baseline to build upon and then focused on risk and information security (ISO 27001/27005)
What would you advise to someone who is looking to seek employment post a military career?
Networking is an invaluable tool to pivot into your next role, so engage within areas of interest to ensure you gather enough information to ascertain the suitability for the next phase. As well as making yourself known.
There are a lot of resources available out there, take your time in digesting the information and don't overload yourself!
