Challenge
Our client encountered significant Cloud transformation challenges that required a comprehensive and strategic approach to building a Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE) in Amazon Web Services (AWS). The organisation needed to navigate a complex multi-vendor environment while developing a secure and scalable Landing Zone that aligned with AWS best practices. This transformation demanded not just technical implementation, but a holistic approach to integrating Cloud services with existing enterprise architecture.
The technical complexity was further amplified by the need to manage multiple product groups and workstreams simultaneously. Establishing consistent governance and operational standards across these diverse teams presented a considerable organisational challenge. The client required a solution that could provide standardisation, ensure security, and maintain the flexibility needed for innovative cloud adoption.
Solution
The Methods delivery team responded with a strategic cloud industrialisation programme that comprehensively addressed these challenges. By developing an AWS Cloud Adoption Framework-based Landing Zone, they created a robust foundation for Cloud transformation. The team leveraged advanced DevOps tools like Terraform, Jenkins, and CloudFormation to automate Cloud environment provisioning, ensuring repeatable and consistent deployment processes.
A key aspect of their approach was establishing a comprehensive Acceptance into Service (AIS) process. This involved continuous engagement with the Enterprise Architecture team for regular design validation and collaboration with AWS technical architects and security experts to ensure technical assurance. The team also developed a detailed Target Operating Model (TOM) that defined clear processes for capacity management, hiring, IT service management, and cost governance.
