Q. What emerging technologies or trends are you most excited about, and how do you see them shaping the future of your industry?

As a P3M professional, I’m excited about the amazing advancements in AI and machine technologies. These innovations are set to bring a lot of great benefits to my work and the industry overall. For instance, they can help automate routine tasks like reporting, planning, and resource management, plus they offer real-time insights that make tracking and managing risks so much easier.

This technology not only streamlines our processes but also boosts decision-making with predictive analytics and smart automation. So, it’s super important to keep up with ongoing development and training as these new technologies grow, ensuring we all enhance our skill sets.

Q. How do you balance the technical aspects of your role with the need for strong communication and leadership skills in project management?

I always aim to create a space where everyone feels included, trusted, and encouraged to be innovative in the project teams I work with. This helps the team share information, talk about issues, and find new and varied solutions because they feel supported.

I also am open to feedback and think about my own actions to be a good leader. Continuous learning is crucial as it keeps me updated on new technologies and best practices in leadership. Good people skills are essential in project management, so I always work on improving that.

Q. What advice would you give to women looking to start a career in tech?

Embrace continuous learning and stay curious, as technology is constantly evolving.

Build a core foundation in technical skills, but also develop problem solving and collaboration abilities.

Don’t hesitate to seek out mentors or join supportive communities, as networking is key for career growth.

Overcome imposter syndrome by recognising your achievements and valuing your unique perspectives.

Be open to challenges and take risks to build confidence.

Finally advocate for yourself – whether it's for new opportunities, promotions, or pay equity – knowing that your contributions are vital to shaping the future of tech.

Q. Why is it important to hire women in technology?

Hiring women is crucial in fostering innovation, creativity and diverse problem solving. Women bring unique perspectives and ideas, helping companies create more inclusive and user-friendly products. A diverse workforce drives better decision making and improves collaboration by incorporating varied viewpoints. In an industry facing a talent shortage, tapping into the skills and expertise of women expands the pool of qualified professionals.

Additionally, promoting gender equality in tech reduces the gender pay gap and contributes to a more balanced and fair work environment, encouraging a positive culture and inspiring future generations of women to pursue tech careers.
